[ Look, if Tobari doesn't look like he wants to talk about it, then Hien will give him that. It turns out that once you're nice to someone, it's hard to be an asshole back! Wow! ]

[ Look. He's just being real with him right now. It's not that he's disinterested in Tobari's circumstances, but like... what does he even ask about? His mind isn't focused on that. He just cares about Tobari of present time. ]

People say things like "why didn't you mention anything?" or "so what comes next for you?" [ he pauses for a second and then shrugs. ] It comes from a good place, and I think the curiosity or upset is pretty default.

I'm not complaining if you're alright though.

[ things are better off if people worry less about tobari—not even in a self-deprecating way based on shaky self-worth. not like that. he understands why people get concerned. it's just that his circumstances aren't really ones that people can change. ]

[ tosses it over to hien. there she is, the cutest girl in the world. perfectly asleep in a bed of flowers, eyes closed and still in her bundle of silks. ]

Sweet to everyone but me, sharp-tongued otherwise. Hard-working and considerate. Never wants to make trouble for anyone.
