[ he leans back in his chair to listen, very obviously mulling this over. some stray thoughts include:
"what is with these things screwing with our memories at all?"
"splitting up is always a bad idea. why is it always churches?"
"oh. oh fuck, okay." ]
You felt like you lost who you were because there was nothing that made you who you are. Without showing it on the pages, it got to you in a way that meant the monster was what remained in the end.
[ haha, great! ]
I hate how these things are so good at pinpointing the exact thing that'd freak you out. Did you find the others after that?
[ "Why is it always churches" good question, Yosuke. Hien wishes he knew. ]
"Yeah. We regrouped in the forest on the outskirt of town. Before that, I met this blond guy who was being creepy at me and bit my neck. I killed him and wandered out, and then into the forest because I saw smoke coming out. The villagers were all over there, and I saw a few of you there as the cultists. You guys were praying... something about fireworks? Rafayel came back and he was infected with black goo, so he killed the woman who had Sylus's attention earlier and I killed the rest. Then there were tentacle monsters coming out of the bonfire and for some reason, all I could think of was to 'return to the sea'. I was obsessed with the idea. That compulsion made me carry Lucien, but he and Sylus stopped me and the latter got us all to the river... in which we eventually escaped."

"That's it from my end. You'll have to ask the others for their point of view."
[ hien really just went "i killed a guy" and moved on and yosuke just kind of has to blink and move on. sure. fine. he knew this, kind of, about him. things happen. and then he's talking about tentacles and there's the briefest thoughtshare flash of a different monster.
da hael... ]
Sounds about as chaotic as the rest of these things, including but not limited to tentacles and random compulsions. I'm glad Sylus and Lucien were with you, but what a mess. And as usual... we don't know what the purpose was. Other than apparently terrorizing you guys.
[ the extremely long pause of a teenager who doesn't want to tell hien that this particular monster was actually puppeting his body and made yosuke fight for it, actually. ]
I think it's probably this world's way of proving how many bonds you've made with all of us here, since these things are meant to test us.
Not the worst idea. I'm not much of a reader but if you need recs I can probably figure it out.
[ but otherwise he will just hang for a little longer and then leave hien when an appropriate amount of time has passed. he mostly wanted to check in on him but he understands needing the space to decompress, too. ]

[ His mind is being assaulted by tentacles. Good lord. ]
"... What was that."

but he shrugs. ]
Something I fought with on our expedition. Sorry, you reminded me of that, I have to wonder where the similarities start and stop.

Dude I can't control how people feel about you.

[ Yosuke might be getting the feeling that he probably doesn't mean that as an organic interaction sort of thing. ]
"... Anyway, thanks for listening. You came to check up on me, and I'm mostly fine."

It's not a big deal. Of course I would.
Mostly fine is about what we can hope for.

Sticking around here for a while then?

"Yeah. I think reading a few books will help keep my mind occupied."
